Overview
Tokumaru Kitano Shrine (徳丸北野神社) is a Shinto shrine located in Tokumaru, Itabashi Ward, Tokyo, Japan, and is recognized as the oldest shrine in Itabashi Ward. In February 2026 (Reiwa 8), the shrine celebrated 1,031 years since its founding. The shrine is home to two important cultural properties. The “Taasobi Shinji” (田遊び神事, rice paddy ritual), a farming ceremony performed to pray for a bountiful harvest, has been designated a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan. Additionally, the “Lion Dance and Yotsu-take Odori” (獅子舞・四つ竹踊り) have been designated as Itabashi Ward Intangible Folk Cultural Properties.
